Update for Tom and Cheryl Rees Serving in Thika, Kenya 2-17-11
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
Homecoming
After arriving back in the states, Tom and I went to visit Tom’s dad (Richard) at a rehab facility. He was found positive for bone cancer and decided to stop dialysis and all further treatment. He had a dream that he would die in a week and decided he wanted to go home to his house in Newport Beach. Hospice came to the house and left medications to help through the death process. They said he would probably die sometime later in the day. Relatives stayed through the night and Richard went to be with the Lord at 5:00 Friday morning. It was a beautiful time of the Lord’s presence with Richard going home to be with the Lord.
The Memorial
This Saturday is the memorial for Tom’s dad. The memorial will be at his dad’s house in Newport Beach with relatives and a few close friends. Tom will be sharing and is praying for wisdom and blessing as he conveys God’s love to the family. Pray for salvation, healing, restoration, and forgiveness among family members. Also pray for good weather as the memorial is to be outside and there is a forecast of rain.
Visit to Nutritionist
I (Cheryl) am continuing to have issues with parasites and will be seeing a nutritionist on Friday. Pray that we can come up with a good plan for eating safely in Africa. Also continue to pray for Tom to have good health as well. Currently, I have been dealing with a bad cold this week and we both hope to be doing much better by Saturday.
Visits to Washington and Mississippi
Tom and I are hoping to visit Washington and Mississippi before our return to Africa. We are going to take our granddaughter Nia with us to WA. We would like to travel sometime after the first of March. Pray for provision and safe travels, also great blessing on all those we want to thank in person for all their love and support.
Have a wonderful week rejoicing in His perfect love and care, Tom & Cheryl
